Queen of Spades
Queen of Spades
When Hearts fell at Bosworth
Diamonds claimed vict’ry
Great love of king and queen
The noblest in hist’ry
But at love's celebration
Felt the chill in the room
His love for fair maiden
Or spoken too soon?
The queen of jewelled vein
left her king all alone
Her life was most precious
‘Twas cut like a stone
Her death was a mystery
Made into martyr
Blame the brute force of Clubs
Wield them disaster
After a new time
And a sense of belief
A warm day in shade
To remedy the grief
And the king he did court
The princess of Spades
No subjects could blame
Did soothe his sore gaze
A season of flowers
In Springtime they wed
But woe deformed fruit
The frost on the bed
Lay the Diamonds
queen down
In the realm of the dead
And sons gone for good
Must reunite again
By any means said
